From a technical perspective, this is perhaps my favorite photograph from last spring because of the shallow DoF and selective focus. Haven’t posted this shot until now because I was always saving it for “one day”. That day is now. Also? I’ve no idea what kind of tree this is.
One big blast of new life Kala!! It splashes out of my screen!! Realy love it;-)))
Thanks Richard!
it’s gorgeous, thanks for the flowers!!
You’re welcome!
Wow, it’s really beautiful–not sure how you managed to hang on so long! š The DOF is amazing!
haha, thanks Christopher!
Oh – it looks like a nice spring:-)
Yes!
Une photo Ć peine travaillĆ©e. Des nuances douces. Des couleurs pleines de charme… J’aime beaucoup, bravo Kala!
Merci!
Thank you for this!!!
Much needed today, when it so cold and snowy here!
Beautiful!!
Thanks Lisa!
Another beautiful piece. I do like the selective focus…
Thanks Evelyn.
perfect balance between selective focus and background, an enchanting photo
Thanks Fabrizio!
Thank you…this definitely warmed me up a bit and took me back to a warmer time! Absolutely gorgeous…the shallow depth is just perfect…it really brings out the leaves and blooms!
Thanks Tammy!
How do I very miss such a view.
And no matter what kind of tree, is beautiful.
Thanks for such vernal picture, my mood has improved.
Thank you, and I’m glad it improved your mood. š
This looks beautiful, Kala..I long for Spring time to see blossoms again.
Thanks Mumsy!
Lovely. I know these trees from Hawaii, but never did learn their names. Your shot is lovely.
Thanks Quilly.
In a cold winter this makes me dream of spring – VERY much! I like this image too. I do not edit my photos much -(I have not Photoshop ) – I like photos that are not edited much. BUT I also dream sometimes of beeing able to “play” much more with some shots….. for example when I look at some creative and artistic work like yours!
Well, the DoF and selective focus were not achieved through Photoshop. That’s me & the camera. š
Simply gorgeous! And so nice to see something so spring-y! It looks like an apple tree to me. I have one in my yard and it always has the most beautiful blooms.
Thanks Angela!
This is absolutley beautiful, Kala.
Thanks Kerstin.
WOW! is what i said when I saw it…. its got a 3D effect to it… amazing shot
Thanks Samson!
very nice I think it may be a crab apple tree.
Thanks Liz.
Its a lovely blast from the past. The flowers are so delicate and tiny, but there are so many of them. Very beautiful!
Thanks!
You saved it for a cold winter day when we all needed a dream of Spring. Beautiful shot!
Thanks Colleen!
Thanks for commenting on my blog and saving this lovely flower photo up to now. I cannot wait for the spring to come! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day.
You’re welcome Yoshi, and thank you for stopping by!
I also love this photo for the same reasons you stated. Great light as well and I love how the red buds stand out against the white flowers. The petals seem to be separated from each other by empty voids, which is typical of a plum tree blossom, unlike a bartlett pear tree where the petals overlap each other.
Thanks Steven. And you know your trees!
Love the red details in the blossom, beautiful and sweet photo!
Thanks Monique!
I like the subtle colors. Good to see spring:-)
If only in a photograph. :o)
I love it with the red colours beaming out.
Thanks Michael.

I’m so pleased you posted it. It’s really lovely and I absolutely agree about the DoF
Thank you Angie.
I like it too – love that little hint of red in there.
Thanks.
GORGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Mariana!
I agree, it’s a very lovely picture with great DOF!
I think it’s one of the many kinds of mallus trees or ornamental apple trees. I also love their flowers and took lots of shots last spring.
But your shot here is so gorgeous!
Thanks Charlene!
it’s beautiful…
the little bits of pink are just perfectly placed.
ahhh…spring.
Thanks Chasity.
You are absolutely correct – this is a fantastic image! Love the depth of field and the details of the tiny petals. The vibrant little red berries complement the soft tones incredibly well. Outstanding work!!

Very beautiful shot! Well done.
I am sure it’s an apple tree but I don’t know which variety…
Thanks LC!
A gorgeous shot that speaks of warmer weather and new life. Just what I need on a cold, gray day. Thanks!
You’re welcome, and thank you!
I love the little pops of pink.
Thanks Rebecca
Incredible DoF with the vivid colors, the sharp detail in the foreground and the background of the arching tree. Beautiful in every way! Thank you for sharing this image of the Secret Spring that is coming!
Thanks Chuck!!
This is gorgeous, Kala. And I do miss spring now! I hope that 2011 will give us tons of motives like this on to photograph.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting.
I like the mood of this picture.
Thank you
and the light and color are also excellent š
Thanks yz!
I am so glad you decided to share this. I love it!
I’ve done the same with some of my photos — kept them for “one day.” I decided this is the year to stop doing that as I sometimes forget all about sharing them (or can’t find a reason to fit them in at a later date given the type of blog I have).
Thanks Robin. Perhaps I should follow your lead this year:
it’s an old habit I have from long ago of saving what I love best for “good”, like perfume, clothes, etc.
Splendid shot Kala!
Thanks Roland!
I see several folks have posted comments that this is some type of Apple tree… that’s what I thought when I first saw it… beyond thinking it is in that family… I have no clue! It is a simply gorgeous image!!!
Thanks Victoria!
Stunning and beautiful! The DoF here feels perfectly in alignment with the composition. The balance just feels right. Great job.
Thank you very much.
Como viene siendo habitual una magnifica imagen parece que se quiere salir del monitor.
Cheers Bernardo, and gracias.
Fantastic dof in this picture, and great composition!

Thank you Doug.
I have been missing a lot of awesomeness. Thanks for sharing this picture Kala. I am sorry that I could not visit your blog as frequently as I would have loved to. I was totally tied up with work and now I have a lot of catching up to do. š
Wishing you a lovely year ahead and hope to see a lot of awesome shots! Happy new year!
Cheers Piyush. It’s good to see you back again. Happy new year to you as well!
The Magic shot, especially when outside my window -26 degrees
Simply superb, especially the depth of focus – well done
It is beastly cold here too Andrey. Thank you.
fantastic detail and color palette
Thanks Yiannis!
love the selective focus. The blossom covered tree is really beautiful especially with the touches of pink/red.
Thanks Amanda!
Wow !!! Kala, your picture is fantastic.
Thanks Ellada!
Whatever kind of tree it is, it’s gorgeous!!! I love the bokeh of the distance trees.
Thanks Jess!
So delicate..sweet…and oh-so-very appealing. Especially and more so – on this grey winter’s day!
Thanks Marcie.
I can see why you were “saving” it Kala. It’s gorgeous. I wonder if it’s some kind of Hawthorne tree? They have white blossoms similar to these. I’m not a tree expert by any means tho!
Thanks Kathleen! (I’m still not sure what type of tree it is.)
Kala, that is really beautiful. I am watching the snow fall and cover everything in a blanket of white right now so a spring photo is welcome š
My guess is that it is a dogwood, but don’t know.
Thank you Mark. š
Spring is not for to-morrow.!!!
Here we have rain, and rain again with a winter meteo.
have a nice week.
Yvon.
I wish you better weather my friend!
Beautiful! Love the pink and red colors amongst the white. This picture gives me hope of spring.
Good! š
Very pretty! It makes me long for spring. :0)
Thanks Lisa. š
Beautiful! I really like the colors and the choice of depth of field.
